Jan Houghton is a California State Licensed Landscape Architect who loves residential design. She is also a horticulturist and author of three gardening books: Designing Alberta Gardens, The Prairie Garden Planner, and The Prairie Rose Garden.
Her passion for plants and design began with a part time job at a garden center more than twenty-five years ago. Since then she studied Horticulture at Olds College in Alberta, Canada, and in 2004 completed her studies in Landscape Architecture at UCLA Extension.
Jan has also taught numerous landscape design classes to horticultural societies, homeowners' associations and various gardening programs. She lives and works in Newport Beach, California.
